The circular economy is an economic system that uses a systemic approach to maintain a circular flow of resources, by recovering, retaining or adding to their value, while contributing to a sustainable development (ISO 59004, 2024). The Circular Economy and Materials Working Group is engaging the private sector to: 
 

• Strengthen regulatory frameworks and incentives to accelerate the circular economy transition
• Foster material innovation, waste management and supply chain circularity to reduce emissions
• Drive behavior change with education, raising awareness, research funding and workforce training
